Listen Later

In this episode, Sinthy reminds us of the power of running. She also helps us to understand the power of health, the power of community, and the power of feeling free. Sinthy started with her first 5k in 1998, and today, she has finished more than 125 half marathons and more than 160 marathons as well as a 100K race!  Sinthy is still going strong!

Some historical background. According to the Legacies of War website, "During the nine years of 1964 to 1973, the U.S. dropped more than two million tons of artillery on Laos during 580,000 bombing missions."  Sinthy takes us back to this time when she was living in Laos, helping us understand the daily terror of these horrific events and how the bombings upended entire families and villages. Running--running away from falling bombs--was life saving.

Decades later, Sinthy helps us to understand the power of feeling free that she carries with her today. Sinthy takes us along on her first 5K as well as her experiences running with local running communities, such as St. Charles Childrens' home running program and her own Wednesday noontime running group at the University of New Hampshire.

Our short episode doesn't do justice to the arc of Sinthy's life but it is a starting point to sharing her remarkable story. Join us for a insightful conversation.
