S1 Ep6: Capturing Mental Health with Paul Nelson
Welcome to the #FindYourFizzPodcast. In this episode, Fizz speaks to the incredible Paul Nelson, an Oxfordshire based Professional photographer.
Paul Nelson is a magician. A man who has creativity running through his veins. A self-taught professional photographer based in Oxfordshire.
Paul has ran his own company for nearly four years now, capturing all different types of subject matter, but now specialising in portraiture, fitness and weddings.
Working for previous companies in the automotive industry, he started to develop mental health problems of his own. Being a male, he found it extremely hard to talk to people and just bottled it up. Paul finally decided to seek help for his mental health and changed his career path as he wasn't happy with who he was and what he was doing with his life.
By making his hobby, his profession, he found happiness again and learned how to cope with mental health by doing something that he loved.
Paul now tries to help others who suffer from mental health, and encourages them to speak out, and show that talking about your feelings doesn't make you weak, it shows how strong you really are.
As we head into November: The Mental Health for Men Awareness Month. If you require support please do seek help from a health professional, speak to someone you trust or contact charities such as Mind Uk or Samaritans for support. If you feel like you are in danger or someone you know is in danger, please contact the emergency services on 999/111.
