Chapter 4 of 1 Samuel is action-packed and drama-filled. The Israelites lose control of the Ark of the Covenant. It is captured by the Philistines after they win multiple battles against Israel. Eli's wicked sons die on the same day. When 98-year-old Eli hears the Ark has been captured, he falls backwards in his chair, breaks his neck and dies. When Eli's pregnant daughter-in-law hears that her husband and father-in-law have died, she goes into labor and dies after giving birth.
