Do you have a calling? In this week’s episode, I’m diving deep into my personal beliefs and understanding of what it means to have a true calling. 

For most of my life, I have carried this knowing, which I now know to be a belief, that we each of us have a calling. A reason for being here now, at this time, on this planet. 

This is a part of us that doesn’t come from our thinking minds… it’s an inner knowing that comes from much, much deeper within. My belief is that our calling comes from our soul.  

All of us have our own unique gifts and talents. For me, I’ve always loved to write. From the age of six, I’ve kept a journal which has been a haven for my innermost thoughts. My belief is that I am meant to write, to share my experiences, thoughts and feelings so that it might help others.  

For a long time however, I kept this precious gift of mine hidden away. It seems crazy for me to say it out loud now, but I genuinely believed that my words weren’t enough, that they weren’t valuable enough to others simply because I hadn’t suffered enough. What did I know about life, about suffering? I didn’t feel qualified – and as a result, I kept my words, and my gift, locked away. 

Some of you will know my life story already, and you’ll know what happened next. But for those of you that don’t, I had the dramatic life experiences I asked for. I experienced loss after loss, until I was the only one left standing. 

And then the whisper of my calling returned. I’ve been doing my upmost to answer that call ever since. 

This was a deeply personal episode for me. I share a lot of my own beliefs and experiences around the idea of having a calling, of having a deeper purpose that drives you through life. I really hope it inspires you to think about your life, your own calling and whether you are living in alignment with it.
