Trigger Warnings. What are they? Do we need them? Why? This week the Ink Drinkers sit down and chat with Booktoker Amanda Mant to talk about Triggers. This is a topic open hotly debated online - from whether or not they’re necessary all the way up to what is actually considered a trigger. We talk about popular books that carry trigger warnings, books that don’t but maybe should and more!
Amanda Mant has been reading romance novels since she swiped one of her mom’s paperbacks at age 12. In 2021, she made an impromptu TikTok video searching for fellow readers who love really smutty books that aren’t dark. It went viral. Now she’s known as the SmutTok Unicorn. Amanda’s mission is to make adding trigger warnings a standard practice in all books. The #maketwstandard movement has inspired hundreds of indie authors and indie publishers to add TWs to their books. You can find Amanda on Tiktok at Amandant The SmutTok Unicorn.
