K’yal is a 4th year Ph.D. student in the chemical engineering department at MIT. She is a researcher in Dr. Prather’s lab, focused on synthetic biology. She attended Spelman University, an HBCU in Atlanta, GA, where she got a degree in Chemistry, as well as CalTech in Pasadena, California, where she got her degree in chemical engineering.
