Our panelists discuss the importance of male allyship in the tech industry.

Kimbra Brookstein runs women in tech programs at Intuit and has been leading programs about male allyship, implicit bias, women leadership, and other related workplace training sessions. Helen Wang, our podcast host, reflects upon her years of experience working in the tech industry. Tyler Mincey, a previous guest of the podcast, brings in a male perspective. Finally, Anushka Joshi, a Rady student, moderates this discussion to tie in the three viewpoints.

In the workplace, specifically in the tech industry, there is a significant gender gap and an underrepresentation of women. Still, to close this gap and achieve gender equality, everyone needs to participate, not just women. For organizations, speakers agree that culture starts from the top–the best way to encourage allyship and positive encouragement in the workplace is to trickle down. For individuals, our speakers also gave practical advice from personal experience.
