In the Quran, Allah warns about Satan's deceiving nature and his ability to mislead people. Satan is referred to as "Shaytan" in the Quran, and he is described as a powerful enemy who is always looking for ways to tempt and mislead believers.
Surah Fatir (35) verse – 5: O humanity! Indeed, Allah’s promise is true. So do not let the life of this world deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver1 deceive you about Allah.
One of the most famous verses that warns about Satan's deceiving nature is in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 168 which says: "O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaytan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy."
In the same surah, verse 208, it is stated: "O you who believe! Enter into Islam completely and follow not the footsteps of Shaytan. Verily, he is to you a plain enemy."
Another verse in surah Al-Araf verse 27: " O children of Adam! Do not let Satan deceive you as he tempted your parents out of Paradise and caused their cover to be removed in order to expose their nakedness. Surely he and his soldiers watch you from where you cannot see them. We have made the devils allies of those who disbelieve.."
In Surah Nisa – Verse 119 Allah says: I will certainly mislead them and delude them with empty hopes. Also, I will order them and they will slit the ears of cattle1 and alter Allah’s creation.” And whoever takes Satan as a guardian instead of Allah has certainly suffered a tremendous loss.
Surah Hijr – Verses 39 and 40: Satan responded, “My Lord! For allowing me to stray I will surely tempt them on earth and mislead them all together, except Your chosen servants among them.”
In Surah Ibrahim, verse 22, it says "And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment."
Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) chapter 2, verse 36. The full verse reads: "And Satan had already caused them to fall from the [state of] grace they had been in and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time." This verse refers to the fall of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden and their subsequent banishment from it due to their disobedience to God's commands. The verse highlights Satan's role in deceiving them and causing them to fall from grace.
