Mark Twain wrote A Dog's Tale circa 1903; Harper's Magazine originally published it in December, 1903. His story takes a very dark turn in Chapter 3 which left me feeling very depressed. So I decided I would edit the story and re-write the ending, with a much happier one. 

Don't worry! I asked Samuel Clemens and he said it would be all right if I were to do such a thing.
