On this episode of Tri This, Kirstin covers recovery, which is frequently neglected as many athletes and fitness enthusiasts tend to underestimate its benefits. We have talked about recovery and adaptation to exercise before on this podcast, but we haven't covered the hows, whats, whys. And recovery really does deserve an episode to itself. In the end, the purpose of training is to put some sort of stress on the body, to overload the muscles/nervous system etc., and then give the body time to adapt. Remember, the human body doesn't want to be caught unprepared and it is always learning. So, when you train hard the body basically says, "ok I don't want to be caught unprepared for that again, so let's adapt". But it only does that efficiently if you give it the space to do so and facilitate that recovery appropriately. Tune in to learn more about different ways you can optimize your recovery.
