Title: Sintra: the Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira
Summary of EpisodeIn this episode, we explore two places in Sintra–Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira.
Pina Palace sits high atop the Sintra Mountains in Portugal and is known for its vividly painted façade, eclectic architectural styles and breathtaking panoramic views. The grounds are incredible too!
But there is also the Quinta da Regaleira, an old mansion renowned for its stunning architecture, lush gardens and grounds and intriguing symbolism. Don’t forget about the initiation well! The estate also features a chapel and a network of underground tunnels and caves.
Both are UNESCO World Heritage sites and tourist attractions for many visiting Portugal.
We took a day trip with our son, Eli to check out the Palace and the Quinta and have a few tips for those of you that are interested in visiting both places.
**note-we said there is no parking at Pena Palace. There is very little parking at Pena Palace. In Dec, you might find a spot.
The name of the place we had lunch at is Nata Pura–highly recommend!
[2:40] Pena Palace (getting there and getting up there, and the palace)
[20:22] Lunch! Check out Nata Pura
[25:00] The Quinta da Regaleira
