Former opposition leader Bill Hassell is horrified by new planning legislation before the WA parliament. Should the state government have more power when it comes to planning and development? Mr Hassell says that it already has more than enough. Could the new legislation see a return to cosy relationships between government and big business, facilitating the possibility of a return to WA Inc? And where is the opposition in all of this? And in an update, the Planning and Development Amendment Bill has passed the Legislative Council with some amendments. It will now be forwarded to the Legislative Assembly.
