Our initial reactions to the 2019 Oscar nominations were a mixed bag. There was plenty to be hopeful about, but equally as much to be worried about with this year's nominations. Why didn't 'If Beale Street Could Talk' get much love from the Academy? What does Bradley Cooper's director snub mean for 'A Star Is Born' and its Best Picture odds? Did they forget that Justin Hurwitz exists after his work on La La Land? But, at least they pulled it together for Yalitza Aparicio!
