A Mobile Studio for Collaborative Futurecasting

With Recording Utopias, we aim to create a fluid archive of future concepts by connecting with inspiring individuals and exploring their visions, ideas, and stories. How do we actively shape a positive future? This is the central question we explore in this episode with Francesco Giudici and Sibylle Wälty.

From rethinking urban sprawl to realizing 10-minute neighborhoods, this episode dives deep into sustainable city planning and creating spaces that foster community. Francesco shares his vision of a society rich in personal connections and cultural engagement, while Sibylle discusses solutions for aging populations and inclusive housing models in Switzerland and the specific challenges in Lugano and Ticino.

Francesco Giudici

An experimental guitarist, sociologist, and curator from Ticino, Francesco Giudici specializes in labor market research and intergenerational relationships. His work particularly examines the health impacts of atypical employment forms. As a musician, Giudici creates atmospheric soundscapes and composes for films, installations, and theater productions.

Dr. sc. Sibylle Wälty

is a real estate economist and architect who teaches at ETH Zurich, among other institutions. She is considered a leading expert in spatial development research. She is particularly known for her work on 10-minute-neighborhoods and sustainable land use. Her dissertation, Implementing Sustainable Land Use, was published by Park Books.
