For this Episode of Power & Politics: Unraveling History, I am happy to welcome Professor Deborah Anthony from the University of Illinois at Springfield as my guest. We will be discussing the First, Fourth, Fifith, Sixth, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments to the US Constitution and how those are being treated by the current Trump Administration.

The Constitution of the United States is among the most unique documents in the history of the world. Some may claim that religious texts fall into this category, and while it will be granted that they are unique in their origin, their uniqueness ends there, as many of them borrow from the same fables and stories of the past. Other documents, such as the Declaration of Independence and Magna Carta share their uniqueness with the US Constitution, and as we shall see, helped to influence that document.

My original plan had been to just talk about this in general terms, but with everything going on in the world at the moment, and especially the United States, I will be offering some commentary on what is currently going on. As a further disclaimer, I am on the liberal side of the spectrum, and while I will do my best to remain impartial, and will present anything current in solely factual terms, I may interject my opinion and it will be based on research and the history which we know.
