Not-for-profit organizations are a very important part of today's society, and they face different issues than most for-profit companies. Being successful generally does not result in getting more resources to work with, and frequently cuts into their operating budget. Applying the concepts of aligning resources with mission AND being able to serve more people and in better ways enables them to do more and provide even greater value to the multiple stakeholder categories with which they interface.
