So many people have heard of or lived through a renovation horror story due to their contractors. Things like, not showing up when promised, abandoning their project for weeks at a time, leaving damage and debris at the conclusion of the job, poor workmanship, poor communication, and quoting low to get the job only to then lump on huge amounts of extra costs at the end of the job to make up the difference.
