In this episode, I sit with my conventional Oncologist, Dr. Ashish Saxena from New York Presbyterian in NYC for a conversation discussing the rare diagnosis of a thymic tumor, conventional chemotherapy medicine, navigating a diagnosis from a conventional chair, and more details about my specific (and unique) case.
You'll learn that while this may not have been my first choice in the healing journey, there was a very specific marker that gave indication to try this route.
Unfortunately, as you'll see in this episode, which was filmed during my 8th week of low dose chemo treatment, inflammation from the chemo triggered my autoimmune DX (myasthenia gravis) to flare, which for me- tends to first show in my eye, so I took it upon myself to record with a very Jamie twist ;)
I encourage anyone going through a diagnosis to create a team of doctors and healers that feel good for YOU! Finding a doctor who will (as much as possible) see eye to eye with you is important. Ask the hard questions. Get your answers, and make your decisions with all of the information at hand.
Grateful to have had this conversation as I hope it will help to educate many and spread more awareness about the rarity of thymomas.
Cheers to ALWAYS being your own advocate on your healing journey.
XO
Jamie
