This episode covers "Federally Qualified Health Centers"! Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) trace their history back to the Neighborhood Health Centers that emerged from the Lyndon Johnson administration’s War on Poverty in 1965. FQHCs are “safety net” providers, they may be Community Health Centers, Migrant Health Centers, Health Care for the Homeless, Health Centers for Residents of Public Housing, and Outpatient Health Programs funded by the Indian Health Service. The main purpose of the FQHC Program is to enhance the provision of primary care services in underserved urban and rural communities. Please accompany me in this episode where I cover the history, what they are, what they do, and briefly cover to how to code and bill for Medicare and Medicaid visits.
