In this episode, Charles and Marcia discuss times when U.S. Presidents have had major health problems or have died in office. Charles reminds us that James Garfield was shot and incapacitated for almost two months before he died, creating questions about who was in charge. The 25th Amendment was passed after the assassination of President Kennedy and provides more specific procedures for replacing Vice Presidents. It also addresses what could be done if the President is incapacitated or deemed unfit for office.
