One thing I've always admired about the life of Jesus was how He was always able to stay connected to His Father. From that place of connection flowed His vision, skills, heart, and direction for His life. He set such an incredible example for us to follow and really demonstrated how the Father is the source of all we do and accomplish.
People will often define the success of a life by what they are able to accomplish which is often measured by results and performance. We find out in the Bible that that isn't how God measures our lives. God's defining mark for us is how well we are able to stay connected to Him and to others in our lives. A key to our influence and impact in the world is by how well we are receiving from God in terms of relationship so we can be full of life that we can give to others. When we seize to stay connected our lives get out of balance and become unstable with little peace. In John 7 in which we explore today, we see how Jesus never tried to push His ministry or agenda, but always acted in the timing of what His Father shared with Him. We see that throughout Jesus' life what He was able to accomplish was the fruit or result of staying connected with the heart of His Father and His plans.
My prayer and desire is that this episode will build your hunger to experience the "living waters" that Jesus promises in this passage. That you would be so full and led by His spirit that everything you put yourself to would flourish and bring life into the lives of those you love.
