Behind the Business

S2 E18 - Rebecca Mackay - Storytelling

Listen Later

Rebecca, the founder of BLOC + ROSE, is a brand and storytelling strategist, word of mouth aficionado, champion of camaraderie over competition and a big believer that Figuring Shit Out is an art.

Unashamedly obsessed with the power and responsibility of great storytelling and the psychology behind why we talk, Rebecca helps female founders align their business and beliefs, close the gap between what they want to be said, and what their audience need to hear and build brands that set their fucking souls on fire.

As part of her mission to radically rebalance the weighting masculine and feminine energy in the world, and build a new future that prioritises equality and ecology, protection and restoration over profit and shareholders, in 2022 BLOC + ROSE will become climate positive, donate a % of profits to charities Tree Sisters and Furnishing Futures and support one female-led not-for-profit, for free, each year, who’re doing something incredible to empower women or protect our planet.

Prior to launching BLOC + ROSE Rebecca spent five years at the helm of a Word of Mouth agency and 10 years rising through the marketing ranks at beauty and beverage brands. She regularly consults for agencies and delivers rousing, educational talks for entrepreneurs. Can also make hats.

Her top tip for personal development is: Self-development isn't linear. It always doesn't happen when you start the course or the practice. The biggest shifts can catch you by surprise - the commitment you have to make to yourself is to notice them when they arise and integrate them.
