In a particularly impassioned episode, we lift the lid on food shaming and the language we use around the nutritional habits of ourselves and those around us.  


Who can’t recall an occasion when a throw away comment about something we’ve been consuming has instantly led to feelings of guilt, glutiny and general self consciousness? However well meant the sentiment was, delivered by the most well meaning of individuals, those comments can hit hard! Passing judgement on the food choices of others has become scarily common place…whether someone is exercising restraint around food or choosing to indulge, there’s always someone ready to offer their opinion. But we can also feel this deep sense of shame when the judgement comes from ourselves. How often do we allow harmful internal dialogue ruin a meal out or social occasion?  So, how should we handle those uncomfortable situations and start to improve our relationship with food?

 

In this episode we discuss what food shaming is and its consequences, tips for how to address internal and external sources of food shaming and considerations for the upcoming holiday season.
