Today’s episode rouses a few emotions for us both as we discuss the huge topic that is body image.
It’s an issue that effects all cross sections of society – men, women, young and old; I doubt there is a listener out there who is immune to feelings of insecurity about how they’ve looked at some point in time. As a culture, we are entrenched with the faulty ideas of body perfection, living in a society that continually reminds us we’re not good enough. With the onslaught of unhealthy and unrealistic social media images and messaging, marketing for faddy diets and excessive exercise plans, it’s no wonder we attach so much value and personal self worth to what our bodies look like.
So, if we know how we got here, the question is, how do we break out of this unhealthy mindset and get not only comfortable with our bodies, but have a healthy self-esteem?
Through sharing our own stories and struggles with body image and by discussing tips for dealing with these issues, we hope this episode helps you change your own perceptions in order to achieve a better balance.
