The National League comeback player of the year Daniel Bard took 7 years to return to a major league mound. 

The Rockies reliever went to some of the darkest places mentally to overcome what we call the 'yips' or in other words all of a sudden going from the future Red Sox closer to no idea where the ball is going once it leaves your hand. Your entire identity and livelihood just escapes you and you have no idea what is happening.
