Have you ever wondered why you should start learning a language? Moreover, is learning a language even useful anymore? In season 2 episode 1, high school student Elizabeth Quinn provides her language tips, tricks, and her view on the usefulness of language learning in the year 2021.
Elizabeth is a student from the UK currently studying German alongside art and English literature for A-levels. Although she grew up in a monolingual family, she began learning her first foreign language in secondary school and is currently learning German, Mandarin, Spanish, and Korean, while also dabbling in other languages.
In this episode, we will be discussing why language learning is beneficial for your life both in a social and professional sense. Also, we touch on topics such as why automated language translating engines, such as Google Translate, may not be as beneficial as you might think. In this episode, Elizabeth shares with us her drive for learning languages and information about her time studying abroad in Germany as well as fun anecdotes centering around conversing with natives. This episode highlights Elizabeth’s story through her perspective, the polyglot perspective.
