The Women’s Side Hustle Society

S2. Ep. 19 - Samara Abbot, Finished is always better than perfect

Listen Later

Samara is a registered dietitian nutritionist who is passionate about helping working women take steps towards the healthiest version of themselves through practical nutrition and wellness education. She is the owner of G&G Nutrition Company where she provides 1-1 nutrition counseling as well as corporate wellness services. In addition to her practice, Samara hosts The Grapefruit & Granola Podcast where she discusses ways women can pursue wellness while still juggling the demands of work and personal life.

Listen in as Samara shares her laborious journey to becoming a registered dietician and how a close encounter with the Virginia Tech mass shooting helps keep her focused on what really matters in life and her career.

We dig deep into how scary it can be to leave the security of a full-time job and how to know when it’s time to leave it; the benefits of working a part-time job, including connecting with other people, networking, being able to do the work and leave, and gaining practical experience in a similar field. We also dig deep into re-framing perfectionism, the importance of prioritizing your own health and happiness; how being super busy doesn’t mean we are being productive; the importance of really making your time count by working smarter, not harder; and never burn a bridge in your career regardless of where you think you might go.
