The ex-spouse likes shooting off fireworks. You don't. You tolerated it when you were married. After the divorce, you don't have to tolerate it anymore. It's going to be 4th of July and your children will be with your ex-spouse. Can I stop my ex from setting off fireworks near my kids? Will the court grant your request to keep children away from fireworks? You won't be able to stop your ex-spouse from getting fireworks near your children. What you should do is communicate your concerns. You can always go back to your judgment of divorce. Find out if it says anything about fireworks. Do you have physical or legal custody? File a motion. The court will likely ask the reasons for this motion. The court will determine if this is a legitimate concern. It will find out if this is an attempt to micromanage the parenting time of the co-parent. The motion will most likely be denied. If the request is reasonable, the court will find a way to achieve that.
