Enhance Learning & Retention with These Practical Steps

A well-designed, interactive and informative material makes training an excellent learning experience.  However, there's one crucial element without which the content would fail: retention of information.

You wouldn't want your employees to dismiss all the knowledge you've delicately incorporated right after their training program. Thus, you might ask, ‘What methods and techniques for knowledge retention should you implement to ramp up retention rates during training?’

This episode of Get Your New View will reveal some practical steps and strategies for retaining information that you should incorporate into your training. These valuable guides will guarantee that your material is not just enjoyable but timeless.

Key areas covered in this episode:

  • Use it, or you lose it. Be prompt in applying new learnings that you have, enact to put it into place, or that knowledge is going to go away.
  • Note that one of the ways to help with the retention of information is to practice. To make your practice even more effective, try doing some homework, writing postcards, or outlining what you've learned.
  • Reminders are another great way to retain information. Setting reminders is a way to get your employees to reiterate what they had learned during the class.
  • Rise above most passive employees who are excited to attend training learned so much during the training but didn't have a chance to work on it. Then they end up forgetting all the things that they learned.
  • Learn how to set aside time to put what you've learned into place, or you will forget more than what you've learned. Block some time on your calendar, an hour or two every week, to practice. Be intentional about it, and you'll see different results.
  • Recognize that the best way to learn more about something is to teach someone else. Take the training results and bring them back to your company and pass them on to someone else.
