It is steeped in ancient maritime myths and legends, with tales of various races of aquatic and amphibious humanoid beings. Referred to as Merfolk in the Hebrides and the Fin-folk in the Northern Isles. Whether their tales of treachery are based on any truth is indeed an intriguing mystery.
