Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE is a prodigy in every sense of the word. Aged 11, she was the youngest girl ever to pass A-level computing and was just 20 years old when she received her Master’s Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Oxford.
So as I’m sure you can tell, she’s potentially the most intimidating guest we’ve ever had on.
But thankfully, for me (and the rest of young women), Dr Anne-Marie has channelled her wealth of experience and pioneering spirit into co-founding Stemettes, an award-winning social initiative dedicated to inspiring the next generation of young women in STEM. Stemettes has exposed almost 50,000 young people across Europe to Anne-Marie’s vision for a more diverse science and tech community. Anne-Marie was awarded an MBE in 2017 for services to young women in STEM and in 2020 was voted the most influential woman in tech in the UK by Computer Weekly.
Dr Anne-Marie discusses how the world will change when there are 50:50 of men and women in tech, why she started Stemettes and the most important thing you can do to start a successful career.
