Sometimes we neglect to grasp the reverence that exists in the word ‘Christ’. We use it so often that it has almost become a second name for Jesus. The word ‘Christ’ is transliterated from the greek word ‘Christós’ which is equivalent to ‘mâshı̂yach’ in Hebrew transliterated as ‘Messiah’ in English. These words simply mean ‘one who is anointed’ or in other words one who is chosen by God usually as high priest or king.
