An organization such as the Roman Catholic Church that has an over-2000 year existence has both history and precedent. Though it has been almost 1000 years since the last resignation, and the reasons given by Benedict match reasons given in the past, the real story for us to discuss is Benedict XVI's tenure and legacy and what awaits us on the horizon.
