Our guest is Dean Albert P. Pisano, a Mechanical Engineer by training, Professor, and the Dean of Jacobs School of Engineering, which ranked 9th among the nation's top engineering schools. Dean Pisano suggested teaming up supply chain experts with engineers to fix the broken supply chain. He said, “There are many reasons for threats to the supply chain. But one of the common solutions is improved data, data tracking, technology, automation, machine learning, AI, and basically a broad suite of computerized skills that you can bring to help manage, not just the efficiency, but the value created by the supply chain.” Furthermore, he introduced a new concept of “platform technology” and his philosophy of “practice what you teach.”

Our host Helen Wang is the current Chair of ISEI, a professor teaching Emotional Intelligence and Innovation to Market at UC San Diego, a supply chain researcher, architect, and a veteran from Silicon Valley’s high tech industry.
