When Ryan Leaf was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 1998, his life was supposed to be mapped out for him. It was the same year that Peyton Manning joined the Indianapolis Colts and the world expected the pair would dominate the NFL as the stand-out quarterbacks for years to come.

But while Manning went on to a Hall of Fame career, Ryan was retired by the age of 26 as he struggled with his demons on and off the field.
