We are kicking off Season 2 of our vodcast with tech exec turned "winepreneur", Jamila Conley. After an accomplished career in tech—leading teams across talent acquisition, mergers & acquisitions, business transformation, and IT—Jamila stepped into a new chapter as CEO and Founder of WeRise Wines, a mission-driven business amplifying access and awareness for diverse wineries and winemakers.
At WeRise Wines, Jamila leverages her extensive business and technology expertise to create a welcoming, richly informative, and inclusive environment. Her vision for WeRise Wines extends far beyond its initial outpost in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood, aiming to revolutionize the wine industry’s accessibility and appeal to diverse markets. Envisioning WeRise as a catalyst for industry-wide change, she plans for further expansions and programs designed to spotlight emerging winemakers, offering them a platform to build and scale their brand within a more diverse consumer base.
Jamila is also a CPA, holds an MBA in Management Information Systems, and is a Certified Information Security Auditor—credentials that speak to her depth and versatility as a leader. But beyond her corporate and entrepreneurial accomplishments, she is a powerful advocate for women and people of color. She founded the first DEI affinity group for the International Women’s Forum Washington chapter, co-authored its Mentoring Playbook, and is a sought-after voice on panels and forums advancing diversity and inclusion.
Jamila is a dynamic and passionate leader who has fine-tuned her horizontal thinking and use of storytelling as key tools in her leadership journey.
