This is a unique, and very important, episode of WKRP. It addresses an actual, and at the time of air, very recent, incident in Cincinnati. The first half is very 'usual'...lots of laughs, Art in a goofy mask. It's fun. It does nothing to prepare us for what's about to happen.

It was the same for concertgoers, parents and city leaders in Cincinnati. Leading up to it, The Who Concert was one of the biggest things to happen there in a long time. It was a huge and highly anticipated World Tour, and Cincinnati was chosen as one of the stops. Tickets were a sellout, the whole town was buzzing about the event and EVERYBODY wanted to be there.

The next day, when reports emerged of eleven deaths due to asphyxiation while trapped in the crowd, the people of Cincinnati...and the world...were stunned and grief stricken.

WKRP Story Editor Stephen Kampmann felt this was not something that could be ignored by the show. WKRP was a rock-n-roll station IN CINCINNATI! They HAD to address it. We'll tell you the story...and we breakdown the episode. Be ready fellow babies...this is a huge and heartbreaking dose of reality. Much the way the gang did, we'll get through it together.

For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog"  episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014. All individual seasons of Shout Factory disks were released starting in 2015.]
