The Culture-Centered Classroom

S2.E25 - Cultural Awareness: Why is it important for your lessons to help develop cultural competence?

Listen Later

Creating culturally aware learning spaces that intentionally develop cultural competence are critically important IF you feel the purpose of education is to guide students on a learning and discovery journey, not just stuff them with facts. This is important if you desire to help students develop the ability to think deeply and critically about topics, not just take things at face value. It is important if you want students to develop as creative and curious learners. It is important if you want every student to realize they are a genius.
