Will is a PhD student in astrophysics who was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD during his childhood and has been taking ADHD medication ever since. While his grades wouldn’t be as strong without medication, he sometimes worries about becoming too dependent on it and losing a part of himself.
We share a lot in common - for example, neither of us likes meetings or meaningless small talk, and we both enjoy talking freely about whatever comes to mind.
He is also very passionate about sports, saying that he would absolutely go crazy if he didn’t exercise.
In this episode, we discuss his diagnostic journey, his thoughts on ADHD medication, and his personal experiences and reflections as someone with ADHD. We also chat a bit about why people feel the need to pretend to listen attentively to others.
This episode was recorded remotely - while I was in Madrid, Will was in Leiden. This is Season 2, Episode 3 of Wondering Zoe, the third episode of this season. In this season, I invited eight friends to talk about their complex relationships with ADHD. If you don’t know much about ADHD, check out the brief introduction at the end.

Will，天文物理专业的博士研究生，在成长过程中就已经被诊断为阅读障碍和ADHD，并且一直在服用ADHD药物。虽然没有吃药的话自己成绩不会那么好，但也会担心自己会不会太过依赖药物，失去了部分的自我。
我们有很多共同点，比如不喜欢开会，不喜欢无意义的small talk，喜欢自顾自地说话。
他非常喜欢运动，他说，如果不运动的话，他绝对会疯掉。
在这一集里面，我们聊了他诊断的经历，他对ADHD药物的看法，他作为ADHDer的一些心路历程和看法，并且我们还一起瞎聊了一下为什么大家都要假装非常认真地听别人讲话。
