On today's episode we are so blessed to have Tom Althouse... father, abuse survivor, voice for the voiceless, writer of screenplays and off-broadway shows, and the original writer of the screenplay the Immortals, which many of you now know as the billion dollar series called The Matrix. Unfortunately, he didn't get any name recognition, money, or credit for the writing of this series. Instead, he lost two sons and all his jobs were taken from him. But he's still fighting to get the truth out there and he's joining us today to continue speaking his truth.
Recently, Emma interviewed Tom on her podcast the Imagination. We recommend that you take the time to go and listen to that episode here as it will give you some additional context to our episode today. Although some areas may overlap, they are different podcasts with different messages and we would appreciate you listening to both episodes and support Tom.
Along with Tom's story about the Matrix and the hardships he's been through, we discuss his family, how he's raised his son, and what he's learned that is beneficial to all growing children. The concept of layering is not only a term used in acting, but something he is beginning to teach adolescents as it is a huge part of their growing up. They no longer see the world as one feeling, but a grouping of feelings that make up their experiences. If we can see the importance of this growth, we’ll begin to understand why adolescence is such a pivotal part of growth and development.
We thank Tom for his candid conversation and continued bravery. God Bless!
