S2E5 - Fight. Laugh. Feast.

Listen Later

Often times we get the impression that christians are defined by what we aren’t allowed to do. And in that list we often see things like don’t offend, don’t say and do hard things, and don’t enjoy life too much! Well this week we want to press hard against that grain. And we want to dive headlong into the season of celebration by boiling down the basic christian philosophy of life to three key words: fight, laugh, feast. The God we worship is the God that invented THIS universe. The universe of gigantic burning balls of fire hovering in solar systems. The universe of raging storms, thick cut bacon, apple cider, giant delicious smelling turkey, songs, dance, joy and love. To know him and to know his story is to live in his world with our eyes wide open.
Some of you guys may notice that this summary is not original to us. We actually stole it from the CrossPolitic Podcast (which is one way of pointing y’all over to them to go check it out!). And yet we have taken the liberty of giving it our own personal spin. So, what does it mean for us to live in this world as if Jesus really is who he says he is? How do we respond to the reality of a world that is both broken and beautiful? And how do these truths breath fire into our holiday festivities? My friend Victor joins me this week to talk about how we fight, laugh and feast. Enjoy the episode! Also check out the links below to the books we mention!
