Episode Releases on May 27. If you don’t see it on your favorite podcast platform right away give it a day to arrive.
For episode 5, of season 2, I gave this mama anonymity to create a safe space for her to share her experience and insights. You see, this dear friend works in a hospital. Her husband and her struggled with infertility issues for two years, at the time it seemed to be caused by her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). After a successful round of IUI, they conceived their son. Given her insight into the medical industry, after weighing her options, she decided to go with the midwifery model of care and selected to have a home birth. Tune in to learn more about the differences between OB care and midwifery care, maternal exhaustion, the emotional recovery of not getting the type of labor & delivery desired, and a surprise baby #2! Spoiler alert: She gave birth to her 2nd baby the day following this interview, and trust and believe I’ll be having her back to share that magical story with you all.
Her closing remarks were so powerful, I decided to share it in the show notes! She shared:
“Everything in life has risks. From stepping outside our door in the morning to driving and putting on a seatbelt. It is your right as a woman to find and identify what risks you are willing to take and don’t let anyone else’s judgment deter you from the experience you want.”
Show notes on vocab discussed:
