A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.  Well, maybe?  But what I do know is that names are important. They have power.  They have meaning.  Names and title are important to me and I'm guessing they are important to you, too.  Listen in this week as I do a dramatic reading from Romeo and Juliet.  Oh, I also talk about how much meaning our names and titles have.

So, how can you honor and respect someone else's name and/or title? Here are my humble suggestions:

Ask someone the history of their name

Call or refer to people by the name or title that THEY prefer and don’t question it if that doesn’t match YOUR expectations or belief

If you’re not sure how someone wants to be referred to or even the pronunciation of their names - ASK

Decide what you would like to be called – name and or title

Use positive, intentional and consistent titles for yourself
