S3 EP10: How Do We Plan for Organizational Change?

In this new episode of the Get Your New View podcast, Kim Congleton and I, the New View Strategies co-owners, sit in for a necessary conversation on change management and cheese.  What happens when you have no cheese? Specifically, what does it look like if you don't have a plan for change management? The words that come to mind are "chaos" and "unfinished projects" when this happens! Ultimately, no change management plan is a significant indicator that people aren't on the same page. Key points covered in this episode: ✔️ Many companies have a list that goes on for years and isn't making any progress. For most of the project requests from our customers, we help them work on their extensive list of things to accomplish, not knowing which ones to work on, figuring out how they can use existing or providing additional resources to help them get those done.   ✔️ Know that silos are one of the most dangerous things to communication that can ever exist within an organization.  These siloed organizations that are not communicating are entirely stopping the progress of those unfinished projects.  ✔️ Why there's no such thing as over-communication. Ensure that everybody understands the project that you're working on, what it means for each of those groups, and what everybody's expectations are to participate in the project. Employees need to hear things two, three, to four times before they can grasp the whole purpose of change. ✔️ Getting people's attention away from their day job is often a challenge. As a result, people will probably catch one out of the three times of what you've said, and there's a chance that they got that communication which equates to progress. ✔️ How to create an action plan for organizational change. Reflect on your list of unfinished projects and think about what would happen if you apply a method, and think about prioritization, timelines, available resources, and even resources that you don't have. They could get. What would that incomplete list look like if you applied some planning to it?
