Do you have to appear live in court for your divorce case? In a Zoom format, you are appearing before the court. The court appearance is not live. Is any form of appearance required in a divorce case? There are some liberal jurisdictions in which the parties are only filling up forms. Parties are never appearing before the court. They do everything through forms. Never actually appear. Michigan is never one of those. You're going to appear via Zoom or in person. The court needs to take statutory proofs to finalize your divorce. Some court appearances may be required. You might be served with papers. You don't contest anything. The other party may have to go. You don't have to go. If you are not sure what's in the papers. You better show up. Make sure your divorce is finalized. Get a copy of your judgment of divorce.
