S3 Ep8: Summer Break 2019 - Everton

Today’s episode takes us back to Liverpool but to the other end of the colour spectrum. 

In recent seasons, Everton have lived in the shadow of their cross-city rivals, not least since Liverpool started making it to Champions League finals and Everton could only struggle with Europa League fixtures. 

But things aren’t all terrible for fans of the club. An eighth-place finish last season puts them in and around the sort of area that their fans expect them to be in. With investment and another season of Marco Silva, along with another poor showing from the big six in the league and Everton could creep into the upper echelons of the league hierarchy. 

But is this all they have? Hope of other teams slipping up? Or is there something more concrete to hold on to?

Joining us today is a face that will be familiar to many in the Everton-supporting community: Mark Godfrey. Mark was the editor of the recently departed The Football Pink magazine and website and has been an Evertonian through thick and mostly thin for over 35 years. 

He occasionally guests in other publications such as When Saturday Comes, the Everton fanzine When Skies Are Grey, and the Scottish football magazine, Nutmeg.
