For today’s episode, we find ourselves back in Manchester… well… almost Manchester depending on how you parse Salford. 

But the Manchesters City and United are not just geographically distinct but substantially distinct these days. Gone are the times when United used to dominate the Premier League and City used to languish… now the tables have turned. 

Where City have won back to back titles, Manchester United are looking down the barrel of a future in which the top spot of the Premier League is almost too far away to see. 

As the litany of managers continues as each one finds their own unique way to destroy the club, Manchester United find themselves helmed by a club legend who lacks any real managerial pedigree and a former investment banker who is good for business and little else, it seems. 

So will this season but much of the same for United? Or can they drag themselves out of their existential funk?
