If you are not happy with the outcome of your family law case, you may be able to appeal it to the Michigan Court of Appeals. However, the court will only hear appeals on specific legal issues, not just because you don't like the outcome.
*You must file a claim of appeal and then file a brief arguing your case. *The Court of Appeals will only hear appeals on errors of law, such as the court allowing inadmissible evidence or denying admissible evidence. *The court will not second-guess the judge's credibility findings or overturn the judgment just because you think you should have done better. *Before you spend the money to appeal your case, talk to your lawyer to see if it is worth it.
Appealing a family law case can be expensive and time-consuming, so it is important to talk to your lawyer before you decide to do it.
