From Betrayal to Blessing

Today’s reading is Genesis 44–47.

Genesis 45:4 — “Then Joseph said to his brothers, ‘Please come closer to me.’ And they came closer. And he said, ‘I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.’”

The story of Joseph reaches its emotional and theological climax. Judah’s plea reveals genuine repentance, Joseph reveals his identity, and the brothers finally see how God has been at work all along. What looked like cruelty and betrayal becomes the very means God used to preserve His people and advance His covenant purposes.

This episode reminds us that God’s plan is never derailed by human sin. Even when obedience is absent and motives are broken, the Lord remains sovereign, faithful, and purposeful. Betrayal does not have the final word. God does.

We reflect on Epiphany Eve, a historic moment in the Church calendar that prepares believers to celebrate Christ being revealed to the nations. Epiphany reminds us that Jesus is not hidden, reserved, or exclusive—He is the Light of the world, made known to all.
