Nihongo Master

S3E1: Coming of Age Day

Listen Later

In this episode of Nihongo Master podcast, we talk about Japan’s Seijin no Hi holiday — also known as Coming of Age Day.

It’s the beginning of adulthood for Japanese 20-year-olds, complete with a celebration to commemorate this fresh start known as Seijin no Hi, or Coming of Age Day.

Podcast host Azra says, “This special day welcomes the youth into the adult world, and Seijin no Hi didn’t just pop up recently — this centuries-old festival has its roots deep in Japanese tradition.”

It may not sound as appealing for those of us who have had a taste of what the adult life has to offer, but let’s also agree that there are tons of other doors of opportunities adulthood open.

It’s a brand new year – fresh start and new beginnings, am I right?
